Main Features
An elegantly designed 32" LCD in a glossy black-aluminum chassis is the eye-catcher of Harman Kardon® Digital Lounge. The extremely flat display easily integrates into any home environment, placed on an equally stylish integrated table stand, or simply hung on a wall for big-screen impact.
All displays are HD-ReadyTM with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, delivering 16.7 million colors in a 16:9 widescreen picture format. On top of that, they're upgradeable to digital TV by adding a DVB® tuner module.
Pictures from analog tuners are displayed flawlessly, thanks to the integrated AASC (Advanced Analog Signal Conversion) technology.
All displays feature both an HDMITM and a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) input for connecting to the DVD player/receiver and a computer's video output. Crystal-clear images for games and high-speed graphics are guaranteed by an especially low response time of only 6 to 8 milliseconds.
The HDMI and DVI interfaces display blockbuster movies in high resolution, up to 720p or 1080i.
Furthermore, the entire range of digital media can be enjoyed: e.g., CDs, DVDs in all formats, JPEGs, DivX® videos or MP3s. JPEGs and MP3s can be played simultaneously to create a whole new world of personalized entertainment.
Independent picture calibration allows you to preset picture settings such as contrast, brightness, color, sharpness and aspect ratio for each individual video input, to achieve exceptional picture quality.
Not only do Harman Kardon® Digital Lounge speakers look really good; they provide a powerful performance as well. The loudspeakers have been designed to work optimally together to maintain a coherent sonic and visual signature across the entire entertainment system.
The 10" powered subwoofer uses a very efficient 200-watt amplifier to deliver more power with less distortion. Due to it's compact size and power, it delivers thun-derous, powerful bass that re-creates all the impact of a live-music performance or movie soundtrack.
By the way, it's also O.K. if, at times, nothing can be heard at all. That's why all system components use fan-free cooling technologies.
Harman Kardon® Digital Lounge is controlled by a player/receiver that is able to play CDs, DVD-Audio and DVD-Video, as well as discs containing JPEG image files, DivX® videos, or MP3 or WMA audio files.
The new high-definition OSD is the heart of Harman Kardon Digital Lounge. Setup, navigation and control of most functions are done by using only five buttons on the advanced backlit system remote control. The menus always follow the same logic. Short explanations on the video display will help you to switch easily between sources, browse through playlists and image files, and call up status and disc information.
Furthermore, the system includes a second, smaller remote control, which operates only those functions that are needed in everyday use.
All TV channels available are detected automatically upon initial installation of the Digital Lounge. Channel names may be assigned or changed as desired.
The Parental Control function ensures that children can watch only what their parents want them to watch.
More innovative ideas: If desired, the receiver's display automatically dims or shuts down when no buttons are pressed for a given time, so nothing distracts from the pleasure of watching a movie.
In the event of future improvements to the system, it will be possible to download firmware upgrades from the Internet. You simply need to create a CD-R, insert it into the DVD drive and follow the instructions on the screen.
The Digital Lounge does more than just show TV and DVD content. It can also be used as a computer monitor and as a large display for game consoles.
It's really easy to install the system, thanks to the color-coded connectors on the back of the individual system components (plug and play).
Additional plug-in possibilities are offered by component, S-video, composite or SCART (RGB or S-video) connections.
Just as practical: The DVD receiver includes two USB inputs to connect portable hard disks or thumb devices containing JPEG, MP3, WMA, AVI or MPEG music, movie or image files for direct playback on the display. The high-definition graphical on-screen display of thumbnail images will make browsing and selecting your favorite tracks child's play.
Each USB input can also be connected to a USB hub, to which up to 16 portable hard disks can be connected.
